About the video

This is a live-stream conversation in question-and-answer form, held on Instagram and YouTube as the guest of a club made up of Bahçeşehir University students. The first part deals with the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and law, the principle that criminal law is a last resort, and whether the rules on the liability of an employer can be applied where a robot causes harm to a third party. It then turns to the differing views on whether artificial general intelligence is possible, the questions of granting fundamental rights and personality to AI entities and of their criminal liability, the biases in the data on which software is trained, and ethical values. The second part discusses data collection by social media companies, surveillance, and the difference between the approaches of the European Union and the United States to personal data. On the basis of Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) as it stood on the date of the recording, it explains the application to the data controller and the complaint to the Personal Data Protection Board, explicit consent, and data processing by apps based abroad; the stream ends with book recommendations.
