The article deals with the sensitive nature of health data and the harm that may result when such data are unlawfully obtained, processed or shared. The sharing of these data is assessed in terms of the right to privacy, patient privacy and the physician’s duty of confidentiality. As Türkiye had no law on the protection of personal data at the time of writing, international instruments and domestic legal provisions are examined in the light of practice.
