About the video
In this excerpt from a programme broadcast on Habertürk TV on 6 December 2023, Prof. Dr. Murat Volkan Dülger addressed the question of how limits on social media are to be drawn. The discussion first dwelt on the subsidiary nature of criminal law and on the idea that the problem can be resolved through education in the family and at school rather than through legal rules, with the concern for ratings in television broadcasting cited as an example. It then turned to the effect of decisions on the blocking of access under Law No. 5651 in view of VPN use, and to the child protection settings available on devices. At the end of the excerpt, social media literacy, critical thinking and the false news spread in echo chambers were assessed together with the other participants.
