This is the recording of an interview on Cumhuriyet TV dated 9 May 2025, in which Prof. Dr. Murat Volkan Dülger took part as the only guest. The broadcast began with the statement of the PKK congress and the debate on the dissolution of the organisation; the right to hope, which had been raised with regard to Öcalan, was then addressed in the light of the 2013 judgment of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Vinter and Others v. the United Kingdom, Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the regime for the execution of aggravated life imprisonment in force in Türkiye at the time of the recording. The discussion went on to the difference between a general amnesty and an amendment to the law on the execution of sentences, the principle of equality and the place of amnesty in criminal law. In the final part, the blocking of access to a politician’s X account was assessed with regard to Article 8 of Law No. 5651, the principle of proportionality and politicians’ freedom of expression.
