This is a short excerpt from a programme with several guests broadcast on Habertürk TV; the subject was the investigation into the disappearance and death of a child. Prof. Dr. Murat Volkan Dülger referred to the investigation as a legal process conducted under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office and to coordination in the collection of evidence. It was explained in general terms that, under the Turkish Criminal Code (TCK), intentional killing committed against a child is an aggravated form of the offence carrying aggravated life imprisonment, and that, under the legislation on the execution of sentences in force at the time of the recording, the period to be served before conditional release was thirty years for this sentence. Finally, the effect of the amendments made to the legislation on the execution of sentences on the deterrent effect of penalties was considered.
